Orphan Goggles, Minus Grin, Harry Cloud Music

Orphan Goggles goes for a take-no-prisoners approach on the high-energy, high-paranoia of “Minus Grin”. Featuring many jagged edges, incredible speed, and infused with just the right of threat, everything about it has a wild feral spirit to it. Volume must be blasted over the course of the EP for there is no other way. By picking such an acid fried vision to pursue the songs have an unexpected surprising quality to them. A little bit of playfulness comes into the fray further adding to the weird freak-flag flying sort of temperament the ties the whole of the collection together.

Rushing through in a crazed haze “Psoria Sister” runs through with gleeful abandon as vocals scream across the sky. Jerky brutal rhythms and shouted lyrics add to the tremendous discomfort radiated by the whole of “Heritage Of Maintenance” where the sound becomes a full and true assault on the senses. Despite its short length, “Slack Jaw” is an absolutely delightful to behold as the piece becomes quite alluring thanks in part to its non-stop fire and fury. Neatly bringing everything to a close is the EP album, “Tinkerbell” which takes everything that came before it and brings it together. Swinging rhythms and utter chaos comeinto the fray as the song has a distorted, confused tempo to it constantly messing with expectations.

“Minus Grin” enjoys its confrontational, bizarre antics, proving Orphan Goggles to be practitioners of the odd in the best way possible.
