This CD is a strange brew of post-punk noise, electronics, fried country and surprisingly adept melodic pop-rock. Mr. Cloud seems proficient in all genres and cycles through the flotsam and jetsam of rock n' roll to cobble together unconventional songs that express a broad and unique range of ideas and emotions. This album shifts through some disturbing moods that leave the listener feeling dirty, degraded, disorientated... before delivering up something bouncy, joyful and affirming; sometimes all within the same song. This is a good recording, despite having what is unquestionably one of the dumbest titles I've come across since I got this blog started (1 mean, stoopid is cool, but stupid is just stupid, yeh?). Harry Cloud lurches, crawls, and drags his audience, willing or not, through seven tracks of alternatingly atmospheric and suffocatingly direct stoner jams here, and you can bet that there's plenty of pitfalls, booby traps, and side/soundeffects that sound like the voices in yr head. What is the fuck? How is it possible I missed this one-man band for so long and only discover it with his 3rd LP, 7 years after the first one? You may think that it's not totally consistent with the general doom/sludge atmosphere of the blog but I don't mind.
